Role Overview
Acumetis is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Writer (contractor or full-time) to support scientific communications across multiple therapeutic areas.
This role is critical to developing high-quality, strategic scientific communications that inform clinical, medical, and commercial decision-making. The ideal candidate combines deep scientific expertise with exceptional storytelling ability and thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Communications & Publications
Develop and lead strategic scientific communication deliverables, including:
Scientific Communication Platforms
Scientific Communication Strategies
Publication Plans
Author, edit, and review:
Manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
Abstracts, posters, and congress presentations
Scientific slide decks and reports
Strategic & Analytical Contribution
Synthesize complex clinical and scientific data into clear, compelling narratives
Conduct targeted literature reviews and evidence synthesis to support content development
Translate scientific insights into actionable recommendations aligned with client objectives
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with medical managers, consultants, analysts, and client stakeholders
Ensure scientific accuracy, consistency, and strategic alignment across deliverables
Act as a thought partner to clients, contributing to broader engagement strategy
Project & Quality Management
Manage multiple concurrent projects under tight timelines
Maintain exceptional attention to detail and quality standards
Ensure compliance with:
ICMJE and GPP guidelines
Client-specific publication and review processes
Therapeutic Area Focus
Strong experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
Immunology / Autoimmune diseases (including Lupus)
Rare diseases (e.g., Muscular Dystrophy)
Gastroenterology (GI)
Broader specialty or complex disease areas
Qualifications
Advanced degree in life sciences (PhD, MD, PharmD preferred) or equivalent experience
5+ years of medical writing experience, ideally in consulting, agency, or pharma settings
Demonstrated experience developing peer-reviewed publications and congress materials
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to interpret and synthesize scientific data
